I'm Sarah, I live in Lyme Regis situated on the beautiful Jurassic Coast,Dorset,UK

   

I love to stroll along the shoreline and have been captivated by the beautiful seaweed that washes up near our home.

I create handcrafted seaweed prints using ethically sourced seaweed that washes up along the Jurassic shores.

 

Inspired by the ocean’s beauty, my coastal artwork captures the delicate details of marine botanicals.

Once pressed, this eco friendly Coastal Art seaweed takes on many different red/ pink hues and the same species often reveal a slightly different colour palette.

​

My first collection uses Delesseria sanguinea - also known as Sea Beech - this vibrant crimson jewel was named after the French botanist Paul Denjamin Deleser. Sea Beech has elegant, flowing leaf-like fronds. This graceful rare sea treasure plays an essential role in marine ecosystems.

My next collection is Chondrus crispus, more commonly known as Irish Moss. This more robust seaweed has a greater variety of colours and shapes. It offers strength and nourishment. It is soft and somewhat rubbery when wet and brittle when dry. Irish Moss has small fan-like fronds and a somewhat lacy appearance. My collection is made up of mainly purples and some pink- coral colours.

I hope you enjoy this harmonious collection of seaweed prints. I feel these delicate wonders of the sea reflect the grace and fluidity of the ocean.

 

My studio is named “Sublyme ART" to reflect all the treasures found below the seas of Lyme. This is a growing venture, so please check back regularly.
